Chuck's 2017 4Runner TRD Offroad

Chuck came to us with a stock 4Runner TRD wanting to keep a stock profile on his vehicle, but lift the truck and have improved off-road capabilities. Southern Style Offroad’s Slimline bumper was a perfect solution for keeping the stock profile as close to stock as possible while allowing for the addition of a winch and lightbar. For the awning and carrying recovery gear, the customer went with Southern Style Offroad’s low profile roof rack with the raw aluminum rails to match the factory color rails the vehicle came with. We were able to mount his ARB 6’ Awning to the side with ease using SSO’s awning brackets, giving it plenty of structure and keeping tight to the truck to avoid wind noise on the highway. For protection underneath this vehicle we chose RCI’s full skid package in aluminum to keep weight down but add the necessary protection for the trails this customer will be facing. For sliders, this customer chose Shrockworks angled up rock sliders with the added tread plate and kickout for superior protection and to allow better access for children getting in and out of the vehicle. For the rear bumper this customer chose Southern Style Offroad’s dual swing-out bumper. This allows for mounting the 5th tire on the back of the vehicle and provides a ladder on the back of the vehicle for easy accessibility to the roof. This bumper is one of the highest clearance bolt-on bumpers on the market, and after we color matched the bumper it is hard to even see that there is a steel bumper on the back from the side profile! To increase visibility in the back of the vehicle, we added Baja Designs flush mount S2 lights in the corners of the bumper, giving the driver the ability to see everything behind the vehicle. For wheels this customer went with Icon Alloys Rebound wheels, which we color matched to the front and rear bumpers, and wrapped them with Nitto Ridge Grappler 285/70r17s to keep a close to factory look and ride quality. With all the added protection and added weight, we had to address the suspension. This customer went with Arizona Desert Shocks 2.5 series shocks with reservoirs and adjusters allowing for a perfectly dialed in ride quality as close to factory as possible while maintaining about a 2.5” lift. Icon Vehicle Dynamics Billet Delta Joint upper control arms were chosen for the front to give a perfect alignment and to allow this customer to fit these larger tires with no trimming.
