Exactly as described. Excellent fit
I’ve had other brands, grille kits, roof mounts, hood pods, ect. The Baja Designs kit is well engineered and nicely made. The brackets are robust and powder coated, the lightbar itself feels substantial and durable. The fitment of the kit was pretty good. My lightbar rubbed on the grille a bit, but could prob be adjusted. The wiring kit was nice, but the big flaw was that the connectors are the cheap weatherpack style, and you need to ensure the male pins are aligned with the female pins. This is important to ensure you fully seat the connector, and that you make a positive connection on the terminals. The part that wires into the up fitter switches is a cheap “vampire” clip, I cut that off and used cold fusion aerospace butt connectors.
The light output is incredible! It’s extremely difficult to force the light bar to change the angle, so I’d suggest trying to aim it with a mock-up, by partially installing the inner portion of the grille onto the truck, aim the lights, then tighten the screws. I’d also suggest using loctite 242 or vibratite.
The driving/spot combo is a good mix for all around use. It provides ample side lighting, and distance. It seems to light up the hillside about 1/4 mile away without any issues. Excellent output and lens quality!
Overall I’m extremely happy with the system. It’s behind the grille and don’t have to worry about it getting stolen, no wind noise, and the amber DRL’s look slick.
My main complaint is that BD used stainless hardware to mount the brackets, they quickly galled and stripped. They really need to use zinc coated fasteners. The light bar also sits at a slight angle, about 1/3” down on the passenger side. I’ll have to take the grille apart and slot the holes to fix this. The instructions are absolutely horrible, but it’s pretty easy to figure out.
My conclusion is that it’s everything I need and want, but need a little adjusting to get it perfect. The light output of this 30” bar seems to be 6-7 times of another brand with dual 40”, and 3-4 times the output of a popular brand 50” roof mount.
The team at ORA has been a pleasure to work with and has the best customer service I’ve seen!
Purchased 1 year old truck, no tray, ordered this, perfect fit and great quality inserts.
