20 Years of Toyota Off-Road Tradition in Gilmer, Texas

The 20th annual Toyota Jamboree has officially wrapped up, and once again the event proved why it has become one of the most recognized Toyota off-road gatherings in the country. Hosted in the East Texas mountains of Gilmer, Texas, Toyota Jamboree 2026 brought together over 1,500 attendees from across the United States and beyond for three days of wheeling, camping, training, competitions, and community.

Offroad Alliance was proud to attend this year as a vendor and sponsor, connecting with Toyota owners, showcasing products, and spending time with one of the strongest off-road communities anywhere in the country.

2026 marked the 20th anniversary of Toyota Jamboree, which first began back in 2006. What started as a regional Toyota off-road gathering has grown into a nationally recognized annual event that attracts attendees from as far away as Alaska, Mexico, Venezuela, and beyond.

For Offroad Alliance, Toyota Jamboree has become a yearly tradition as well. Tom from Offroad Alliance has attended every Toyota Jamboree since 2015, making this another memorable year to reconnect with customers, vendors, and longtime friends within the Toyota off-road scene.

East Texas Off-Roading at Its Best

Toyota Jamboree takes place on a massive 1,400-acre private off-road park in Gilmer, Texas, featuring terrain that challenges both drivers and vehicles alike.

The trails throughout the park include:

  • Slick red clay sections
  • Loose shale climbs and descents
  • Limestone and shale ledges
  • Steep inclines and off-camber obstacles
  • Technical rock walls and rock gardens

The East Texas terrain creates a unique mix of traction challenges and technical driving that tests everything from stock vehicles to heavily modified builds running large tires, lockers, and advanced suspension setups.

Camping, Community & Family-Friendly Atmosphere

One of the things that makes Toyota Jamboree stand out is the atmosphere throughout the weekend. Guests can stay on-site with both RV hookups and primitive camping options available across the property. The event remains heavily focused on family involvement, with activities and events designed for all ages throughout the weekend.

In addition to open trail riding, Toyota Jamboree also organizes guided runs for various skill levels and interests, including:

  • Beginner trail runs
  • Multiple night runs
  • Technical off-camber runs
  • Air-locker-required trails
  • Women's-only guided runs hosted by the "Lady Owned Toyotas" group

Whether attendees are experienced rock crawlers or first-time off-roaders, there's something for everyone at the event.

Massive Vendor Area & Industry Support

At the center of the event sits the large pavilion area, where vendors, sponsors, food trucks, and event festivities all come together.

Offroad Alliance attended alongside many of the top brands in the Toyota and off-road industry, including:

Toyota Jamboree has also hosted countless industry names over the years including King Shocks, Total Chaos, Toytec, Mickey Thompson, Rago Fabrication, Metaltech, DV8, Demello Offroad, Black Rhino, Diode Dynamics, and many others.

The event continues to serve as one of the best opportunities for Toyota owners to see new products in person, ask questions directly to manufacturers, and get hands-on exposure to the latest off-road equipment and technology.

The Annual Group Photo

One of the most iconic moments every year is the massive group photo. With vendors and attendees gathered together, a wide-angle shot is captured from roughly 40 feet in the air, showcasing hundreds of Toyota builds all in one place.

From brand new Tacomas and 4Runners to classic Land Cruisers, Hilux builds, and highly modified crawlers, the variety of vehicles on display is always impressive.

Competitions & Challenges

Toyota Jamboree is also known for its competitions and crowd-favorite challenges throughout the weekend.

Light Bar Holding Challenge

Presented by Cali Raised Offroad, this challenge pushes contestants to hold increasingly larger light bars for as long as possible. The competition starts with a 40-inch slim light bar before moving to larger and heavier setups, eventually finishing with a massive 50-inch Baja Designs OnX6 light bar for the final round.

It sounds simple—until your shoulders start burning.

Blind Man's Bluff Challenge

One of the most entertaining events of the weekend. Drivers navigate a specially designed off-road course completely blindfolded while relying entirely on verbal instructions from their passenger.

Fastest completion time wins, but communication is everything.

Rock Garden Event

Presented by Backwoods Adventure Mods, the Rock Garden is one of the most technical challenges at Toyota Jamboree.

Contestants navigate over 300 feet of massive limestone boulders, some weighing more than 2,000 pounds and standing over 30 inches tall. Vehicles are grouped by tire size and modification level, ranging from mostly stock trucks to extreme builds on 38-inch tires and larger.

The challenge demands careful throttle control, smooth braking, and smart line choice to avoid getting high-centered or damaging components.

The Toyota Jamboree Stampede

Presented by Maxxis Tires, the Stampede delivers one of the biggest spectator experiences of the entire weekend.

The custom-built course features:

  • Shelf drop-offs
  • Hairpin turns
  • Loose gravel climbs
  • Moguls
  • Large dirt humps

With over 500 spectators lining the course, contestants push their trucks hard while trying to maintain control and momentum through the obstacles.

Off-Road Training & Education

Toyota Jamboree isn't only about trail riding and competition. Throughout the event, vendors and sponsors host educational training sessions designed to help attendees build real-world off-road knowledge and safety skills.

Training sessions this year included:

  • Midland GMRS radio training
  • Off-road recovery courses
  • Winch safety instruction
  • Hi-Lift jack safety
  • First aid techniques on the trail
  • Off-road fundamentals classes

These sessions continue to be one of the most valuable parts of the event for both new and experienced off-road enthusiasts alike.

Toyota Builds of Every Generation

One of the coolest parts of Toyota Jamboree is seeing such a wide variety of Toyota platforms represented in one place. The event featured everything from:

  • 2024+ Tacomas
  • 4Runners
  • Land Cruisers
  • Hilux builds
  • Prado builds
  • First-generation Tacomas
  • 80 Series and 100 Series Land Cruisers
  • Highly modified crawlers and overland rigs

It's a reminder of just how broad and passionate the Toyota off-road community really is.
